I guess the issue with S&S is mainly in the petrol automatic engines. No problem with my diesel, as long as it's not -5 and the car is warming up. Maybe their batteries are weaker...

Robt, I have the same 1.2 Auto as you and I experience the same issue. At the end of the road where I live, I have to pull out quite smartly at times on to a busy road. There is also a small incline at that spot. I find it all to easy to spin the front wheels. It seems to be a general trait that the power comes in a hurry and it takes a little getting used to.
With regard to S/S, I switch it off as soon as I get into the car (if I remember). I'm not a fan of it. When I don't remember, it will activate after about 10 minutes driving so if that's what you want, you should be able to use it. It all depends on the battery situation.

Hi terryp,
Just as I thought but great to have it confirmed about the gearbox. Will have to train my right foot a little better.
As to the S/S, I'm not overly concerned about that, probably will turn it off, my local backstreet garage who is a very genuine guy is not in favour of it either, must shred the battery and they come very expensive, believe you need to have the car reprogrammed if you replace the battery.

Thanks to all who responded.
Rob.

Hi Team,
An update, I spoke to a dealer salesman who, on promise of anonymity, told me the 1.2 & 1.3 engine EDC's are very jerky when starting away. He suggested using Eco mode which limits the acceleration, it does work but I end up switching it on and off all the time around town. Of course I could leave in in Eco mode and just potter about, but where's the fun in that?

Also the information on what else Eco mode does is VERY sketchy from Renault, it rambles about the heating, cruise control and other stuff without being specific.

Your last part about the heating is correct, I noticed that it was not that efficient with the A/C when ECO Mode is on, personally I have not used it for a long, long time.

Hi All,

I have the same jerky problem with the 1.2. (2018 model)

After a few close shaves with other vehicles I have raised it as a complaint to Renault.

It doesn't seem to matter if you have a heavy or light right foot or whether the engine is warm or cold.

I've driven a fair few autos and it is the only one where I have seen/felt this issue, when testing the car with sig spec and 1.2 engine there was no jerky sensation and the ride was smooth.

This issue isn't just frustrating it can be very dangerous.

Has anyone else pushed on with a complaint to Renault?

Thanks!
