The info on the dash changes with the main dash display, try changing the clock type for different information.

Sorry to hear of your R-Link problems Gat.
I've found your post because I'm searching the forum, as my R-Link2 also died yesterday (2018 Kadjar).
It was working fine then the screen suddenly went blank. Nothing. Just a black screen. Turning the car off, locking it, leaving it for hours, come back after work & nothing, not a thing on the screen & no start-up sound. Just like you, a note on the dash with a line through it where the radio thing used to show.
I've been on the Renault connect site & its showing that (when my VIN was checked) that there is an essential update for it.
Question is, do I try to sort it myself, or do I just take it to the dealer and let them sort it under warranty??
I'm assuming that as the screen has just gone blank it should be covered as a warranty repair ??

It should be covered under warranty. I phoned the dealer when mine died and their reaction implied it was a common problem. However, before i took it in i managed to get it working by disconnecting the car battery for about 10 minutes. When i reconnected it worked and has been ok ever since.
