And lack of this operation is very common for Japanese cars... I own a brand new Suzuki Swift in its highest trim... And also only AUTO knob is illuminated and automized... And also as soon you switch ingnition off (turn off engine) power windows stop to operate and also mirror folding (even in the middle of operation). So Japanese technology in this field sucks big time.
