Before the Kadjar we had a Megane Sports Tourer 1.5 dci, in a nice dark metallic green, with gold effect paint. It sparkled like a million bucks on a sunny day, and people used to comment on it.
It did run problem free, but it was too low in every respect. The seats were too low to sit comfy in during long travels, the headroom was too low and the ground clearance was certainly too low.
Even the Renault original towbar was too low according to CE standards, and even the Swedish MOT acknowledged that, but did not have the power or the will to reject the Renault european certification.
We also wanted to have an automatic transmission.
The Kadjar fixed all that, and the 1.5 dci still runs great. Too bad that beautiful green color was not availible on the Kadjar. We did chose a simple white, when we couldn't have what we wanted anyway.
The Megane used to fog up all the time during winter wich the Kadjar does not.
It's not the perfect car by any means, but the car that starts and runs problem free is a keeper for now.

This is my fourth Renault on the bounce, the last three being bought new. A Laguna, a Megane Coupe, then a Captur and now the Kadjar. Never had a moments trouble with any of them. The coupe was my favourite and I only PX'd it for the Captur because my wife had difficulty getting in and out of it due to health issues. Comfort wise the Kadjar is great and in a year or eighteen month's time I'll replace it but all options are open at the moment. I'm a bit like Ted, a 'new' facelifted Kadjar is still in the running.

We too had a sports tourer, 1.5dci, kept for 7 years after buying as high mileage, 22k. at 10 months old. Just about faultless and overall I think it was the best car I ever owned. IE purchase cost v residual v economy v space v versatility etc etc Top spec car in just dynamique spec. Sold to neighbour who was also well pleased.

Previous car was a Captur 0.9 Dynamique SNav (8 months), Focus Titanium 1.0 Ecoboost (12 months), Seat Exeo SE estate 2.0 CRDi (8 years)

Why the three in quick succession? Wanted to get rid of the Seat before the diesels got hannered even more,a nd before I had to pay for a second cam belt. Loved the Focus, but knee problems made it difficult to get out of, hence the Captur (hired one on hols), then got a bit fed up with the lack of go.  Saw the Kadjar, test drove it, and it was sold....

Had a 1.2 auto Captur and before that a 2.0 Diesel Hyundai ix35. Always liked what are now called SUVs going back to Suzuki Vitara, Toyota RAV, Jeep Cherokee.
There's no doubt in my mind that the Kadjar is the best of the lot. It's a 1.2 Auto SNav. A joy to drive.
