Yes. Basically devices or vehicles produced in 2015, 2016 and prior to 05/2017 which has R-Link2 HW version 1 or 1.1 is no matter if you have 2.2.19.300, 3.3.16.980 or 7.x... there will be no CarPlay. Hardware (system board) is lack of PCB for that functionality. Vehicles produced after that time has all. But if you had to change unit and have it with HW 2.0 or 2.2 then you have to enable AA and CP trough developer mode or (in version 9.x) trough DDT4ALL. And to CP function, need to chang USB box.
