Blimey, my PC has more  than that! 16GB RAM,5TB disk array...

That's the difference between an internet server and a home pc, for just displaying pages with or without a DB there is no need to have such high spec. A previous server I had that used to just display pages without the use of a DB also ran a number of game servers wirth no problem. Also running an operating system that is not mac or Windows based helps. 

The site is still very slow. It takes 5-6 seconds at least to load index. It was not like this before.

What time of day did you experience the speed issue as it is loading for me in less than a second ?

I have stopped the Adsense Ads this morning about 05.00hrs as I think they are not all that and some links are questionable.  Amazon can stay and I will be looking at other forms of advertising.

Just 2 minutes before the post. Now, just before adding this post, it was OK. Yesterday was also too slow.
