You need to replace main device - R-LINK2 with newer… your device does not support Apple CarPlay in any cimcurstances… DarenH and also me has luck to replace main device with latest under warranty… this device is CarPlay compatibile but you need:
enable CarPlay and Android Auto with ELM module and DDt4All
replace front USB slots with newer one 

My expirience is completely positive, but I went trough all phases…

A bit of research and yes as Robert says we had new headunits fitted, I was quite happy with mine, in the interest of research went to get the software updated we’re it wasn’t too successful.

They replaced the unit otherwise it wouldn’t work.

ive just posted a reply on an other thread about replacing the head unit. The only real option I think is around £1200 from a dealer.  There are a couple of options like a second hand unit but you need it powered in the scrap car to de register it. Or get someone to change the prom, only heard about this not seen it been done.

How do you remove the front USB slot? Tried with several tools but it left me with nothing more than scratched plastic around the USB slot. 

You need to disassamble central console as for mount a wirelles charger…
