It's software and hardware version 3. So it should have no problem with NTFS if the flash drive is OK.
1.6 dCI, 2WD, Zen+ , Retractable Tow Bar.

Well how spooky is that, just had the exact same problem!

So I have now reformated the stick using Allocation Unit Size of Default

Not that this may be necessary, I have put some music tracks on the stick

Stuck it back in the car, No Problem....Sorted

i been running a 32gig sandisc usb filled with media on the car since purchase, (i took it with me to plug in) never had a mins trouble with it. 

however , i dont use that usb to do the updates on the r-ling i have a dedicated usb i set up right from the start. i did try another usb with media on it formatted and of adequate size but could never get it to do both, ether update or media not both.

I have no trouble doing both, even had a movie file as well on the same stick

I did a Map update yesterday to 2017.6 map, and noticed when I looked at the stick on the PC, that there is a lost.dir folder created BY the update...

I believe, it's created by the Android system (standard behavior), not the update.
