I have had my petrol, flame red (gorgeous colour!) Kadjar for a few months and noticed that the front and rear running lights come on when the car is unlocked. I assumed that the rear lights stayed on (as well as the front lights) when driving but I noticed, when I lent my car to my daughter and watched her drive off in it (with fingers crossed!), that the rear lights did not appear to be on. When she returned the car, I checked and confirmed that the rear lights do go out when the engine is started. I looked in the handbook but there is no mention of this and having fiddled with the screen thingy, I got totally lost and had to ask daughter to come and sort out the mess. I rang my local Renault dealer, who are very helpful, but they have no suggestions. It seems illogical to me for the rear lights to go out, as I previously assumed they were on making the car more visible from the rear, and wondered if anybody has any suggestions.

It's "normal". The rear lights are on only when the fronts are. When only on DRL, they're off. It's a nonsense of course. I fixed mine with ddt4all. Now they're on all the time.

Ddt4all is a software, which through OBDII interface alters setting in the car's "brain.

The tail lights and i think it is the front running lights come on together as part of unlocking the car and will go off after a short period, front and rear, if the car is not started. This is part of the welcome system which on mine can be switched off altogether.

He is asking why tail lights are off when day driving....same thing that puzzled me when bought this car.
And then I started looking at other brands of new cars on the road - no one had tail lights on during day.
