My 1.5 auto signature 65 plate went in for another issue and they told me the emmisions had been updated to latest spec?
On return journey home found not quite as economical plus more performance and better exhaust note when accelerating !

My 1.6 dci had this engine update done when it was serviced and MOT'd 1st March. Since then it's been flat performance-wise, as if it is in ECO mode when it is not. Also I was getting around 58 mpg +, according to the R-Link but now I am lucky to get 50 mpg, more like late 40's. A bit disappointed. Car was fine before and the garage says that they cannot reverse the engine update. Plus I also had to have those Continental tyres replaced on the front at only 16000 miles!! My mind is wandering towards other makes but nothing has jumped out at me yet. I've had Renaults for many many years. I'm not sure for how much longer.

Can't speak for the DCi but conti tyres are rubbish, every van I have had wears them out quick so I change to Good Year for the next set, last far longer.

Mine is 1.6dci 4x4 goes in for service on the 15th biggest problem I will have is that I tow a caravan and on eco mode it’s dangerous.... no power at all... I live in South Wales and hills everywhere so I never use eco mode.... it makes the car gutless... I will be telling the dealer in Cardiff not to change the ecu setting if they will listen.... I have a service plan with Renault, if they refuse it would have been better to have had it serviced at my local garage using genuine parts.... I love the way it drives but that won’t be the same if it’s gutless and mpg goes up..

All these "engine upgrades" were brought about to reduce the chance of litigation in light of the VW fiasco. Where the car was optimized originally for economy and performance they are now dumbing it down to protect emission figures.

I was hit with "oh, it will invalidate your warranty if you don't have it done" I did what I thought was correct and asked them to put it in writing then went of and put the full car details into th Renault UK database. That said the car didn't need the fix. I heard no more from the dealer. Who's trying to kid who here??
