Hi folks, this is my first post so my apologies if I'm doing it wrong'
I have a 2017 kadjar diesel with automatic air conditioning.
The system was recharged last year and the cooling is O.K.
Recently I have found that with automatic mode engaged the aircon button is also constantly lit irrespective of temperature settings and therefore cooling is present constantly. The upshot is that I have to revert to operating the aircon manually.
I presume that a temperature sensor must be the first port of call and would appreciate its location and possibility of checking without paying Renault £120 for the first hour of diagnosis.
Regards,
Charlie.

Occurs no matter what temperature, high or low. Not sure about defrost function. Will check and come back, thank you.

I don't get what the problem is. Usually the led is always lit, when the air con is set to auto.

Thank you but that is not correct. Previously the LED was only lit when cooling was required. As the LED is permanently lit when auto is engaged there is constant cooling irrespective, as stated previously, of temperature setting. This is no longer auto, but permanent cooling which I would expect from a manual control system.
Thank you for your responses but I don’t believe we are making progress.

Sorry, just to confirm. I agree that when auto is selected then the “auto” LED is lit but we are discussing the “aircon” LED which is only lit when the compressor is activated. When ambient temperature is less than the desired internal setting we certainly do not require further cooling. “Auto” means heating or cooling in order to maintain a given temperature setting which requires the compressor to be activated only when required.
