After 3+ years of ownership, and numerous failed attempts by me and a few by the Renault dealer, I think I have found a way to slience the persistent rattle from the glovebox lid. I've tried foam of various thicknesses, super strong velcro, packed out the side catches with little shaped pieces of tin, all to no avail. The only time it didn't rattle was when the glovebox was emptied or the lid left open. It became routine for my wife to open the lid as we set off in the car to shut the thing up!

What's worked for me is small neodymium magnets (10mm disc, 2mm thick) superglued to the lid and the corresponding place on the dashboard side. A bag of 10 cost about £2 from Ebay. I found two weren't quite thick enough to bridge the gap, so a third one is free to stick to the magnet on either side. The attached pic shows two together on the lid and one on the dash They are remarkably powerful for their size. They've been in place for about two months and the silence is blissful!

If you try this, glue each end of a stack of three so you know they are the right way round - not trying to repel each other!
