Has anyone experienced the red engine failure hazard warning coming on, asking you to STOP? Whilst sitting waiting for the AA, with engine off, got another message on dash saying “battery low, start engine”. Engine starts fine, then failure warning comes on again, and so on until breakdown arrived. On arrival at local garage, the engine failure light was no longer coming on of course.

The garage couldn’t find any fault codes stored and don’t seem to think the battery is a problem. The original battery will be 5 years old next month. They suspect a software issue. It’s not been to dealer for an update or service in two years (used local garage for servicing after service plan ran out) and I’m not too keen on paying £120 for the privilege of the dealer hooking up diagnostics and still finding nothing!

anyone experienced this and had it fixed?

When you were waiting for the AA, did you have the infortainment system on/charging phones etc - they can draw the battery etc. 5 years is pretty standard for a stop/start battery - if unsure go to a local garage and ask for a battery health check but it's probably due for a replacement. 

Age of car? Battery lasts arround 4 years, not much longer. If battery does not have at least 60% of capacity available, all,ind of errors will come out..
