Ive read /seen many reviewers say that the 1.2 is underpowered. Well I do many small journeys in the car so diesel was out of the question. Do i find the 1.2 underpowered? honestly, not really, in eco mode its not going to shoot off from the traffic lights , its definitely a gradual and steady increase to your desired speed. things like the air con blowers also are reduced etc to conserve fuel...thats the point of eco mode. Out of eco mode there is decidedly more power. it doesn't struggle up steep hills or any of the things you associate with an underpowered car and has far more acceleration, all of which leads me to echo the words of another owner reviewer that i read...the power is perfectly adequate.
Im still getting used to driving it but I'm so on the cusp of whether i prefer the conservative fuel efficient (money saving) driving experience of eco mode or the slightly more thirsty but more engaging drive the Kadjar offers with it turned off.
whether petrol or diesel whats your eco preference?

When I drive our Kadjar (1.2 petrol edc) I disengage stop/start and never use eco mode. I average 39 mpg.
When wife drives she has both engaged and averages 37 mpg.
We have different driving styles, I believe she is heavier on the throttle and brakes than I am, but I would never tell her.

I've tried eco and decided it makes driving hard work. Anyway, using momentum fuel I'm getting 35mpg around town and 45 mpg (with a little care) on longer journeys.
As for being underpowered, I recently carried out an overtake manoeuvre on an "A" road and put my foot down. The car absolutely flew!
Very happy.
