Quick follow-up to my earlier post, and in response to this discussion:  Yes, my tomtom live and maps were kindly updated for free by Renault - should now be OK until July 25.  However, in Sept I received a standard message from Renault about updating, and paying for, the same services.  I ignored that as Renault had granted the updates until 2025.  But when I now look at the Rlink details for my kadjar it states that I am no longer able to update anything (effectively permanently) as I hadn't taken out the subscription. 
So - I'm OK for another 8 months, but I wonder then whether I will be able to get Renault to let me activate - paying if necessary - maps and tomtom live for another year.  Both are important to me (I prefer to using android auto) so I will wait and see.  It would seem rather unfair to give a year's subscription and then say that I cannot renew in 07/25 because I didn't take out a subscription!  Anyone in the same boat??

Thanks Fenlli and disappointed to hear your situation, which sounds very unfair. As I mentioned above, I've now had contact with their media support, customer services and Renault UK's executive office but not got anywhere really save an indication that there will be an update at some future (unknown) time; but whether that happens is yet to be seen. The latest version in my R-Link 2 is dated 2019 - 2 years before the car was registered! So maps in my Kadjar are 5 years older than those in the Carminat TomTom in the 10 year old Scenic I parted with! Not good.
