I have done system updates, following that it wipe all my saved addresses and settings.  Is that normal?
Secondly I would like to carry out maps updates,  it say insert usb for one minute and place in the PC you can see the serial number of the R-Link 2.  What's been transferred to the USB stick is not readable.

Help Please
Denis

Unfortunately system updates can knock out your favourites... What happens when you use a USB to do updates, is that you quite often have to delete all the USB content, and then put the stick in... One minute isn't long enough either.  Give it 3 or 4, so that the SatNav can recognise that one is plugged in and "deal" with it....

There are instructions on this elsewhere on this site under "New Map Update 2017.12" but to save you looking this is one of the replies to a member with a similar problem.
Hope this helps, if not, come back.

Register or log-on to any RLink Store. For example here: https://ie.rlinkstore.com/update.
From there check what available updates you have. Then follow instructions, which basically are:
- download RLink Toolbox (it's an application for PC), install it and open it.
- equip yourself with an USB stick, at least 8 gigabytes capacity.
- put it in the car and power on RLink.
- wait for a minute, to allow the system to recognize the stick and create its folder in it.
- Take the USB and put it in your PC.
- Start the Toolbox app and follow the instructions.

Format USB stick as FAT32. Avoid to use USB sticks of doubtful quality (aka gadgets), rather use quality one. I use 2 Kingston sticks, one 64GB for music/video and other 16GB for map updates and entering developer mode. Both are USB 3.0.
No problem at all.
