Hello, I would like to start this topic. For many of us, the rlink has more than 3 years and in other cases we would like to get carplay (my case) 
I have found kadjars in "scrapping" to get the rlink. Not many but some.

I have read many infomation in many forums, even megane forums, and these are my conclusions

The system is linked to the VIN, if you try to put the radio in another car, there is an anti-theft system. You see the image of a padlock.
Through DDT is not possible to change the VIN. Verified by italian member
Through DEVMODE, there are two related options, antitheft (on or off) and virgin mode.
Virgin mode seems that only Renault can program it again.I have not gotten information about antitheft option if it is useful.This is the computer part.
On the physical part to change them, there was a topic in renaultkadjarforum.co.uk/topic/2116-somebody-know-how-take-out-the-multimedia/  but it does not work anymore. Renault say me it is necessary to remove the dashboard from the car, about 5 hours to do it to mount the radio, crazy! In this topic They talked about how to try to do it through the screen removing some screws and more.

Well said all this, I hope among all we can provide ideas or knowledge to do this. Buying a new unit in renaut is not viable for sure.

Yep dash out job, took me two days in all, put replacement 2017 radio in, had a 2015 model , known issues with reception and no Apple play android play. Replacement radio anti theft on, Booked in with local Renault dealers to rewrite cars vin into system, £50.. better be worth the aggro ,

Hi, when you say dash out do you mean all the plastic trim pieces and vents or is it more in depth than that. I’ve taken the touch screen and it’s surrounds out and can see the media unit is mounted vertically!??! I take it the only way to release it further is upwards out of the dash?

Yep top vents out as well, but to do that the clock cowl needs to de removed.

Just checking though, in the final image there’s what looks like a plastic bar going right over the top, middle of the unit.

Does this come out somehow? I assume there isn’t enough space to manoeuvre the unit around it.

renault dealer wont reinstall (unlock anti theft software) because the unit is from another kadjar, vin,s dont match and because of unit not being virginised before it was removed from donor vehicle, they cant touch it !! anti theft laws and personal information still on the unit apparently..
