Rlink2 shouldn’t have any relevance on the main dash board it should still work, although the drivers aids and changing of dash colours won’t be available.
The emissions update is a recall issue on diesel models. They will have tried to update the firmware to V7 which 95% of the time works, the other 5% is mixed outcomes with a broken line display b/w lines and is fixed by a usb patch from France. once they have worked out the fix.
The other small percentage the head unit won’t start up so there’s no way of correcting the software conflict while it’s in the car.
The only reason why it seems as though there’s a lot of faults is the successful updates never get mentioned, as with a lot of faults it only becomes apparent when we need answers.

If you still have no joy, open a case with customer services at renault and register your grievance. It may get you anywhere faster but ask for compensation!

I drove mine for a while with the dash completely removed and the rlink wouldn't start due to the missing dash. They are definitely related which becomes apparent when you try to start the car with one detached (if you detach it while running it's ok rlink is already operational, I guess the check is when initializing at unit boot time).
One of the first Kadjars from Nov. 2015 - 1.2 TCe Manual ZEN - "old" R-Link (gen 1.1, soft 2.2) successfully updated to 3.3 with AA

Of course everything is connected via multiple can links, so everything talks to each other. That’s why there’s a single OBD socket and everything is communicated via a a single pair.
That’s the problem, I’m pretty sure if there was a direct link to the Rlink head unit it would be fixable, just like any other corrupt boot system.
