V7 was the next version after V3, renault found it worked on the original Rlink2 by accident so modified it and sometimes offer it at the dealer while the vehicle is in for a service. Yes it is a dealer only thing 99% of the time is a success. Less then 1% of the time it doesn't work and fails to load correctly resulting in a change of headUnit. There’s a varied waiting time for replacements upto and over 7 months.
I’d only considered it if the warranty is still valid on the car.
V7 has a lot of tweets to make it more stable everywhere, including the dab reception. Not that I had trouble before but it feels more solid, is the only way I can describe it.
Yes this is the way I went, satnav and mapping is a lot better too. Android Auto can be activated but as I’ve an iPhone 11 I’ve not tried it.
There’s a few drawbacks, one of which is if you are dabbling with ddt4all something’s can’t be activated, or can be but don’t come active, even from the developers menu. Thinking the V7 has come from a scenic, as the Scenic ddt4all allows more options in the radio menu available to change. If you are playing with ddt4all be careful, Scenic for the Rad features, and Kadjar ph1 for the vehicle ecus!
As for press and ask, once V3 is installed it allows access to shout at the phone through the feature and not the Rlink2, I’ve not tried it myself, but it’s part of the firmware.
