I'm not a fan of the website layout, but I appreciate it's easy to criticism from the sidelines when this sort of thing takes ages (am a software developer myself, and know the difficulties of making intuitive, cross-platform layouts).

If it were up to me, when browsing '/forum' the page would not include any header information, except a collapsible menu.
