Hi Team,

Still getting to grips with my Kadjar (had it a week or so now), I have 2 questions, both related to the alarm system.

The only way I have found to stop the alarm going off if I leave someone in the car whilst I go off to pay for petrol etc is to walk away, let the car lock itself then unlock it with the "unlock" button on the key card. Bit of a faff,is there a better way?

2nd, I tested the emergency key (the Merc CLK key I traded didn't work), after a bit of pushing and shoving it did open the car but the alarm went off. I shut it down using the key card but if it had been for real I wouldn't have been able to do that (that's why I would have been using the key). Any thoughts?

Walk-Away-Locking has been discussed somewhere else in the past on this forum, a tip that apparently works is to close the driver's door one-click, so it's not properly shut? I couldn't say for sure as I'd already given-up on it because of the issue you mention; also when filling-up the windscreen-wash the car would lock between me pulling the lever for the bonnet and getting to the catch to open the bonnet. I'd started leaving-the-keycard in the car, which if I'd forgotten-about would have invalidated my insurance if the car was stolen. That and the thefts of cars with this feature meant I've turned it Off. Don't miss it! The Emergency-Key issue sounds worrying, I need to Test that soon! Thanks! 

Hold down the lock button for 3 seconds and it'll beep - that should be the internal alarm sensors turning off.

Not had time to test this but if the person left inside were to open their door surely the alarm would go off?

Unless the person you are leaving in the car can't be trusted, why not just leave the remote in the car with them?

As for the emergency key, that is interesting, I don't even know whether there is a place to put the key to start it as I have never given it any thought?

Yes I could leave the card in the car but that takes away some of the convenience of having a key card in the first place. It means I have to dig it out of where ever it is (deep in a pocket, it's supposed to be hands free). Also what if it's a 16 year old, old enough to be sensible but legally dubious leaving a child in charge of a vehicle.

The emergency key will only get the driver's door open, there is no key based ignition slot, only the stop/start button.
