My 2019 petrol 1.3 Kadjar  (23.500 miles from new) drives perfectly,  however the dash came up with 'check anti pollution system', Renault say its because the DPS ( Differential Pressure Sensor) is covered in soot and needs changing and on top of the min £120 charge for a 'diagnostics check' today want a further £350 to change it.

They say this is caused by me not driving enough miles and short journeys, at 77 year's old  I have had dozens of cars and never had such a problem  even my wife's 2017 Ford Focus  has only 8.800 miles and never had a problem.

So is this a common problem with all Kadjar's ? or my driving

or I maybe drive over the speed limit to help burn off the soot!

I didn't think the accumulation of soot was an issue with petrol cars. My understanding of a differential pressure sensor is to measure the readings before and after the DPF, which is only on diesel engines as far as i'm aware unless it's just on the exhaust system. Be interesting to see others' opinions. I'm not a mechanic just an enthusiast.

Modern direct injection petrol engines produce soot, therefore they have GPF (gasoline particulate filter) with all the drawbacks and problems as diesel engines...

I have had my car since new in 2016 and have circa 23000 miles on the clock. Except for last year, when the Ball and Chain was using it occasionally here and there doing 20 to 30 mile journeys once a week, it only gets used at weekends for shopping, 10 miles, if that, and the very occasional long weekend trip 3 to 4 times a year, not had any sensor issues of any kind.

So now you know I will get Sensor issues because I have told you all !

I believe you have to take your diesel kadjar on the motorway about once a week ( or at least twice a month), and drive for at lest 20 min to clear all the soor accumulated during your short journeys.
If the alert comes up on screen you have to drive at ( at least) 40miles/h for 20 min to clean in up.
Hope this helps.
