am wondering if anyone will have an answer.

currently I have a Kadjar touchscreen dated 28/01/17 and been told by Renault that cars from May 2017 have smartphone mirror. so, wondering if I change the display to a later version would that be enough!
or would that not work?
i took off my radio to check serial numbers and the screen doesn’t seem to be attached to a normal radio box (am used to seeing aerial, gps and other cables) just 2 small cables.
i cannot find any YouTube videos on swapping screens or multimedia!

any help would be much appreciated

The screen is what it is just a display and a touch element.  The head unit is in the dashboard well behind the screen.

To change the head unit to a gen 1.1 would need to happen at the dealers, the headunit needs coding to the car and to renault servers in France.
for security reasons, if acquiring a used head unit, it will be coded to them at car so will not work out of here car unless it is decommissioned before removal, therefore the car would need to be powered and plugged in to CLIP Renaults diagnostics machine to decommission.

Well so;

I know a bit more about that. In dealership they brick my device on purpose (car was still under warranty) so they can change with a new one... I have good relationship with frontman in garage...
Anyway, it was not hard to do that. Just one wrong step and device was dead. They even know which step to perform.
Bottom line is: go back and if they accept to upgrade they accept the risk.

Not so pointless, but device must be prepared for transfer... unlocked, unblocked and you will need an authorised garage to  adjust it to your car. Only expense for the device will be smaller
