Renault tried to update my R-LINK and killed the whole thing, it's been sat at the dealer for nearly 4 months now and still waiting for the new unit to arrive, any one else had this issue

Sorry to read, 4 months is a long time. Yes we've heard about this, not the only case, but I wonder why don't they allow you to drive the car with the "dead" unit, its perfectly drivable. Hope they replace the unit soon so you can get your car on the road again.

I know it's a joke, by the time my wife took it back the next day after collecting it as they also did the emissions update she said not even the speedo was working, they've had to give us a hire car. A Hyundai how odd, just getting tired off it's still on back order

I guess they wont allow the car on the road due to the speedometer not working. The instrument cluster and the R-Link units are connected in a way that one cannot operate without the other.

What engine is the car? Wondering about that emissions update - I don't remember having it done on mine.

And once again - hope the dealer manages to deliver the new unit already. If there is some legal way to pressure them on this I believe you're in position to try that.
