When I got mine, ambient lighting was an optional extra which I never took up. I believe, so might be wrong, it was standard on the top of the range car that had leather seats at the time.

Mine is a 2017 signature but I’ve checked and haven’t got the option for it, so I take it I haven’t got it.

I’ll have to dig a little led out and stick one in there as it’s surprising how dark it is in there at night.

Yes so, the phase 1 pre face lift didn’t have ambient lighting as such, while the phase 2 has ambient lighting control, it controls the dash screen and Speedo colour ‘look’ setting and one additional led under the dash at the front of the centre console.

I fitted all my footwell lights a while ago, and also installed leds in the door handles and in the front under dash at the front of the centre console.

I just laid on an ignition fed 12v feed so they are on ignition.
I used 3mm leds, so each one I assembled with a wire and a plug to plug in to a loom I made. The led just requires a 3mm hole to be made a blob of hot glue to secure on the back.
There is plenty of space once the radio bezel and screen have been removed.
As an example the picture is of the window switches to give a little backlighting.
Don’t forget if you assemble the leds yourself you’ll need suitable resistors inline for the voltage.
