In this case CarPlay won’t work under any circumstances. Only AndroidAuto… for working CarPlay you need device with HW version 1.1 (models produced after May 2017) and base FW 3.3.16.x (or it is 3.3.15.x) and proper USB slots. Even if you replace a device with  newer, you need to change front USB slot module.

Hello everyone
I have the following specifications on my Rlink2: 
- MM2014 ver: 2.2.19.300;
- SVN ver 53034 ;
- MICON ver : SVN 4992 / REL 3 ;
- HW ver : 0 x 453;
- Gen: Gen1.1;
-Board Rev :3 ;
With these specs can I safely upgrade to V3 (using the file from  here ) for Android Auto activation ?
If you have another verified update file, or any advice, these are welcome.

yes, you can update to 3.3.16.981. I think that there is only 1 version of upgrade file arround... I also suggest you to unlock iGO partition at the end and install latest TomTom/iGO maps with POI. I have some of them prepared already.

I hadn't thought of unlocking the iGO partition and installing the latest TomTom/iGO maps with POI, but it's an excellent idea.
