The other thing is that I have ordered the 'facelift' variant and I have no idea if the new Kadjars are different to the pre-2018/19 ones. I'll wait before doing wacky stuff to my new car.

So I found one guy in Germany who said he did it, he just replaced the complete units with LED headlights, started the car and everything was fine. At lease as long as you do not have your car checked by the police.
So he installed a subsonic box from HELLA (part no. HELLA8xx 010 315-001 ) at the rear axle that measures the distance from axle to the ground and 2 new LED motor units that can move the headlights down and up (part no. 26055122R).

Talking about the costs, he found the headlights from a crashed car (rear side crash off course):
2x headlights 500 Euro
2x motor units 59 Euro
HELLA hight adjustment 180 Euro
=========================
So 730,- EUR all in all. Not too bad...

I assume if the car is checked and it has the height adjustment modification then the police will be happy?

Did this guy publish the work online somewhere, or did he tell you privately?

Yes - that's where it came from - the German Kadjar forum. Maybe I should ask him if he is happy with the LED lights and if he has to change it back every 2 years when the official check up is due.

I learnt this lesson many years ago as in if you want certain features ensure you get the right model in the first place. The integration with other systems and individual parts costs rule out after conversions. Miss seeing the headlights level against the garage door when starting in the dark myself.

Question, are led lights as good as HID discharge (I think), some ranges still have these as standard and they were fantastic on my old qashqai, very penetrating and picking up roadside signs and obstructions fantastically.
