In an ideal world have someone start the car and use a length of hose to narrow dow where the noise is coming from, don’t be misled, if the starter is sticking it could stick for that amount of time

Very interesting idea. Might give it a go.
The strange thing is the engine starts normally and it's silent for the very beginning. I believe the starter should've retracted its gear by than and after this the noise start. I might be wrong though...

Using a hose gives you a clear indication where the noise is coming from, obviously be wary of moving parts, pulleys belts etc and hot exhaust parts

Is this how modern starters work? I thought starters were now constant mesh, i.e. the starter does not retract from the starter ring but the drive was controlled by a clutch.

Here's a video of the sound it makes, even I think it's little bit quieter. 2 seconds after ignition and approx.20 seconds later all is good.

Definitely isn’t right. Stop start vehicles starters are beefed up because they work harder. I would be getting it checked soon as
