This was posted by me on the .co.uk forum, I reposted here but lost it. Let's try a second time...

I was not the original poster, but here are my stats for the first 8000 km (5000 miles) on my Bose 1.2 TCE EDC, 19" wheels.

Average fuel consumption: 7,74 lt/100km with best fill-up number being 6,85 and worst showing 8,92 lt/100km.
The driving style is mild with a lot of low-speed but high-traffic highway. I recently noticed that EDC tends not to let the engine breathe correctly, so I am trying in the last fill-up to use manual gear change as much as possible. This way I let the rpm go higher in order to find the optimal gear-change spots. I am already showing 6,6 and the driving details (speed, traffic etc.) are not much different. Weirdly enough instead of 90-93/100 in the ECO2 counter, I get 83/100 so far. So, it looks like a by-design fault in the system.

ECO or no ECO makes no difference so far.

I have this engine, I've driven a few automatics in my time but find that this one is very hesitant from a standing start, it takes a second or so and then jerks forward, this is with either heavy or light pressure on the accelerator.

It also has a high pitched whine when driving at any speed although it is worse at higher speeds, is this normal for the engine.

Sorry for the questions, I've had the car 2 1/2 months and I'm wondering if all 1.2 EDC's are the same!

cant really comment on the petrol engine i drive the devil's fuel but it is an automatic,

i haven't noticed any hesitation from pulling away from lights or starting of, I have noticed as you come to an island and you stop for a sec, the gearbox is slow to respond.
that drives me a bit mad as i am trying to get going and it has to think what it wants. I now at islands revert to manual to select a gear.
one more thing, i have noticed recently the box is slow going from  2/3 3/4 one of them , the revs go a bit high and its slow to change.
as for box noise at speed, i think you will find its wind noise they are not the slippiest of car.

I've got the Bose 1.2 EDC and so far have covered about 2500 miles. Admittedly, most of that is motorway but a good chunk is urban and it's averaging 38 mpg at the moment which I think is quite reasonable.
I don't use Stop/Start or Eco but, due to the weather, the A/C has been on more or less the whole time.
Still pleased with it. No problems-except reverse hill starts!

Hesitation for me happens mainly in the case that Shedder101 is mentionting, almost stopping and then accelerating like in a junction. Not when the car starts.

Also, regarding the noise: does it change pitch as the speed changes? Usually these noises are either turbo, engine or gearbox (internal), wind or rolling (external). If you put the car in neutral and the revs fall to idle while the car still has speed, does the noise disappear?
