I don't see a problem with tyre wear. The original 17" tyres on my Kadjar are Michelins. They have made 42000 km, except for the time winter tyres were used, and they are far from gone yet.
Rear brakes however have something fishy going on. Why do they wear out so much faster than the front brakes? Is it the automatic adjustment of the electric parking brake that is too aggressive?

Given the handbrake is only applied and released when stationary I think that highly unlikely. I think the fact may be down to parts sourcing. It's highly likely the reas are made by a separate parts supplier, even in a different country, to the fronts. Not only Renault do this, few make their own. It's even known for cars builder to change supplier of OE fitments mid model due to supply/quality issues.

Taken back to an earlier car, VX. The front pads were so hard or resistant to wear that at 50k they were still at 50% wear, but they had worn the discs down to below min safe thickness. There are a whole lot of variables. only thing certain is that we will nevr know

Ah, a pattern emerges. Yes 19"s on the KR and 18's on the older QQ,  1898 has also reinforced this in a thread above. So all owners with 19" wheels need to re-shoe every 12k or so?

Ok, you can't blanket that but it is what people have reported. It goes against logic, why should low profiles on 19" wheels which are exactly the same rolling radius as cars equipped with 17"s cover less mileage per set, as said, rears looked/look good for 60k???

Maybe because the 19" tyres are of a sportier design with softer rubber for increased grip?
The 17" Michelins are labeled: "Energy". That implies lower roll resistance and less heat buildup.

Because thay do not absorb the uneven surface as good as the "soft" 17s. They-re tougher on the road and take more damage. Besides, I think they should be made from harder mixture, to withstand the narrow profile of the tire itself.

It is something along those lines. I think the tyres are wider and less flexible. the power steering is to easy, hence the tyres are always on the point of "scrub". To reiterate, few could drive gentler than me.
My car is on motability lease, didn't know that they will change the tyres at 2mm rather than the normal UK legal limit of 1.6mm. Called in today as this has been playing on my mind for a few days now. 1 front at 9889 miles shows 1.6/1.9/2.1mm across the width, other 2 mm max. Tyres to be changed next week when I can get it back there. Interesting to see what gets fitted and how they compare. (I have no choice in what is fitted due to the contract).

This is getting even more interesting :) Is it possible, the grooves are shallower at the 19s? For me 1.6 is scarily thin. If you enter aquaplaning, you're totally screwed...

There can only be one conclusion, unless you can accept replacing rare and expensive 19" tyres every year based on average mileage, go for lesser spec or retro fit 17" wheels as lots did in the old forum.
