No more diving until Monday when I will go to Cozumel, been on my bucket list for a while.
I have over the years always understood Diesel's to be the big users of oil so has this changed?

I can only speak from personal experience - the diesels I've owned or used (company cars, colleagues cars etc) have never consumed any extra oil in between services. I've never even pulled the stick to check the oil on those. My other car - the Peugeot diesel has gone for 50k so far without any oil consumtion. At the same time with my gasoline cars I've always been advised by mechanics to check the oil level in the mornings before taking off - of course those were older engines which had ran for 150k km or more at the time. Before the Kadjar I've not had the need to top up though.

Some of the cases I've seen in the forums were fixed with replacing the engine with a new one under warranty.

I've never heard of this "problem" before. It could have a lot to do with mileage, the more you do the more oil you use. In my case, I drive about 5 k miles per annum, (I've had the car for 26 months, mileage to date 10,500). To be honest I never check my oil level, in fact the only time the bonnet gets opened is when it gets a service (i.e. twice up to now).

It this case it's not the milage. Most of the reports have milage like yours.
