Many thanks for your help and moral support. My friend now sees bright on life again and he also sees Berlin from the Here perspective.
He changed USB stick, formatted it, downloaded all files again (using the map file Robert kindly supplied here) and started the installations from scratch. Problem gone - new maps there.
This forum is really a life saver!

Hello to all, im new here, can someone help me with maps I have this version of maps MM2014 NAVIGATION, 9.12? How can i update it? Do i need to update system first or directly maps? Also can i use here navigation? Thanks.

2016 White 1.6 dCi 4WD BOSE with Premium Techno Pack, Winter Pack, Panoramic glass roof & autodipp mirror and retractable towbar.
Added ambient illumination, few chrome trims,
Replaced R-Link2 V2.2 SW version 9. 0.34.611, enabled Android Auto and CarPlay (change USB slots)
