For developer mode, you need nothing. It's basically a hidden menu. For the real stuff, you need ELM OBD 2 gadget  (no meter, a wired one, a BT or WiFi connected, I'm using a WiFi model). You stick it up at the slot, which in left direction models is just down and left from the steering, next to the door and under the beam switches. Than you need ddt4all software on a laptop with all the ECU files in it. Plug the OBD in the socket, connect to its WiFi network, start the ddt4all on the laptop and try not to do something stupid, while playing with the car's brain

Hi guys, i'm new here...i downloaded guides and stuff to update from 2.2 to 3.3...before trying, it is really necessary to keep the engine on? If the car is parked in neutral, does the start-stop shutdown the engine? Does it work if i keep the car shutdown and r-link system on?

The reason it is suggested to keep the engine running is to prevent Rlink 'Timing Out' and shutting down.
When I have done map updates, which can take some time, I start the car with the door open, switch off and sit in the car with the drivers door open and have the radio on and just twiddle the volume from time to time, so it knows I am still there, but there is still a risk it could shut down without warning.

If Rlink shuts down while carrying out Firmware updates, there is a risk it will become corrupt and the possibility it will not start up again, the choice is yours.
Remember the V2 - V3 upgrade is NOT sanctioned by Renault so any support requests may fall on deaf ears.

Not "officially", but I disabled it via ddt4all. For the sake of software update you can just disable it once via the button. Or just be in the car and press the clutch to restart the engine when it stops - the update takes like 15 minutes.
